American Education Week

During American Education Week, teachers engaged students in activities designed to inspire them to become active members of their community. Students showcased their Home-School Connection Projects to classmates and were encouraged to dress as the professionals they aspire to be in the future.  The celebration also included a staff appreciation breakfast, where all employees contributed a breakfast item to honor our amazing team. Parents joined as guest readers, sharing stories about their professions and explaining how their work benefits the community. We explored the concept of our school community and celebrated with a Panda Pride Parade, highlighting unity and school spirit. To conclude the week, students and staff honored our dedicated support staff with handmade thank-you cards.

Throughout American Education Week, we are striving to teach our students to aspire to become active members in the community. The students were given an important assignment to create an illustration depicting what they want to be when they grow up and to discuss how this career will help others in their community. Parents were invited to be guest readers for the students about their professions and to share how their job helps others. We also talked about our school community and had a Panda Pride Parade to show our unification and support for our school. The students and staff also took the time to celebrate with our school’s support staff with student-made thank you cards and special desserts.

Activities included a home & school connection activity, inviting parents to be active participants in their child’s learning, as well as continuing to build home-school relationships.  Parents were invited to help their child draw a picture of what they want to be when they grow up.  The students later shared their work with their peers during greeting time.

Teachers later shared the video with the class.  Students also went on a virtual visit to a fire house using the link: Sesame Street FDNY: Fire at Hopper’s Store.  The students and staff also took the time to celebrate our school’s support staff with student-made thank you cards.  At the end of the week, students and staff members joined together to sing our school song during the morning message.
